I'm quite a regular in Homebase, usually garden centre or DIY sections.
They quite often have orchids, mostly phals but I saw these about a couple of months ago, looked but determined not to buy them (haven't got the space), they also had a pale yellow one with a darker contrasting throat, £13 each.

Returned to Homebase last week for something else and saw the yellow dendro on the "Reduced" stand for £8, flowers all dry, crispy & brown so picked it up but also noticed these two, still looking fresh so they must have been in a new recent batch.

So I took those too  , well why not, in for a Penny as they say !

Steve

I do have the same issue (space). Sometimes it is very difficult not to buy.

Let me try to help you then Chris ! ;)
I don't know what you had in mind, but it looks a bit like 'Comet King' to me?

What probably doesn't help is my rubbishy camera as both are slightly richer/darker coloured in real life.

The flower at the bottom of the paler plant is a bit nearer to its true colours, pale cream throat with pale lilac edges to the petals (a bit like pierardii), here it looks almost white !

You are incorrigible Steve. Both are nice plants. The challenge will be to get the yellow one to re-flower next year.

That crossed my mind too, but I think Red Emperor has darker, more prominent markings in the back of the throat.
Not important, it is what it is, whatever its name !
