Hi all

I'm attempting to set up a facebook page for the forum here: http://www.facebook.com/orchidforum.eu

At the moment the page takes all posts from the forum and puts them on the facebook page throughout the day. Clicking on any of the posts on facebook will take you to the correct forum page where you can read the post properly. You can comment on and like posts on facebook, but nothing which gets posted on facebook will end up on the forum itself, and you can't start new posts on the facebook page.

So the facebook page is like a handy way to check the forum now, which I hope some people like and find helpful.

Threads are not grouped, and you just see all posts in time order. Image handling on facebook is painful too. You can see that attached images don't display there, whereas [img] style ones do, etc.

Take a look anyway and feed back your comments. I'd like to see what I can do to get this looking slicker but working with facebook is extremely difficult with this forum software. Is it tolerable so far or just a mess? A few shares and plenty of likes would help get it going and hopefully channel some of the traffic back to here which facebook has diverted away in recent years.

Sounds great Rob, my problem is China blocks Facebook and the other sites, now they even block google earth.

I would sure to use it, when I am on R&R or out side China. I might even try a VPN so I can use it.

it takes a while for a facebook like page to grow in numbers the quickest way is to invite all ur friends on facebook to like.
I use facebook forthe company i work for its been up for a year and has only just really started to grow.
the other thing you could do is join a few orchid groups and then post the link to the facebook page on that group to get more people intrested and join both the site and the facebook page.
hope this helps

Rob I have been trying it for the past couple of days but I don't really see any advantage for me in using it. I like going onto the forum and looking through all of the posts in detail so the odd post showing up on my Facebook page is not something I find useful. Others may use Facebook and the Forum differently so find it more beneficial.
